David Thrasher, Vice President of Foundation Supportworks, and his wife, Tabitha, welcomed their 3rd baby, Sophie Jean Thrasher, on Friday, May 11th at 8:39 a.m.

Sophie weighed in at 7 lbs. 11 oz. and is 19.75" long. Congratulations to David, Tabitha, big sister, Addison and big brother, Landon! She is a cutie!

Thrasher Basement Systems Hosts Training Seminar in Omaha, Nebraska

During the week of April 16th, Foundation Supportworks, along with Thrasher Basement Systems hosted over 60 foundation repair contractors from throughout the United States and Canada for a week long training seminar. Throughout the week, attendees were trained in the areas of marketing, sales and installation of Foundation Supportworks products. In addition to classroom and field training, the attendees also benefited from the opportunity to network with other foundation repair companies throughout North America.

The three-day sales training covered topics such as product features and benefits, interviewing the customer to learn about their wants and needs, proper diagnosing and inspection, and presenting solutions to the customer. Sales training attendees were also encouraged to bring their laptops to receive hands-on training on the exclusive Foundation Supportworks sales presentation and proposal generating software program.

On Wednesday, April 25th Thrasher Basement Systems and Foundation Supportworks celebrated "We Love Our Staff Day." This day is just a small token of our thanks for everything that our office staff does to support our teams.

We brought in doughnuts, bagels, fruit and yogurt in the morning and in the afternoon we all enjoyed an ice cream sundae bar.

We are so blessed to have such awesome people on our team and we thank you all for what you do!

Thrasher Radon Specialists attend Regional Stakeholders Meeting in Nebraska City, Nebraska

On Wednesday, March 14^th, Thrasher Radon Specialists including Don Good, Joel Hookham, Aaron Hunter, Kate Spielman and Jason Jones, attended a Regional Stakeholder’s Meeting for radon in Nebraska City, Nebraska. The meeting was designed to bring stakeholders together to discuss and understand common radon issues from new perspectives, as well as to provide insight into the future. It was an opportunity to educate and network with other radon professionals who have a stake in protecting the public from unnecessary exposure to radon in their homes, schools and businesses.

Also present at the Meeting were representatives from the EPA, AARST (American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists), the Iowa Department of Public Health, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Iowa has the highest average radon concentrations in the country. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking. A state study of Iowa homes found that 71.6% have levels above what the Environmental Protection Agency considers safe. Thrasher Basement Systems provides radon testing and mitigation services. As a System Design Specialist, Ryan designs waterproofing and foundation repair solutions for our customers on a daily basis. With Ryan's sales and service experience, he brings a customer focused approach to Thrasher which fits in with our mission to "wow" our customers every step of the way! Thrasher Employees Enjoy Pancake Feed

Employees were invited to enjoy a breakfast of pancakes, sausage and eggs before starting their day.

Slashes Slated for U.S. Radon Protection Program

Proposed 2012 budget cuts of $2 million to the radon program of the Environmental Protection Agency threaten to drastically reduce the effectiveness and awareness of radon gas safety in our society. Additional budget cuts proposed for fiscal year 2013 would affect the State Indoor Radon Grants program and regional oversight efforts.

Because radon gas is invisible in daily life, heightened education and awareness programs are all the more critical to safe guard the population. Longer term exposure can unknowingly result in severe health problems including cancer. Since the 1988 Indoor Radon Abatement Act passed by the Federal government, progress has been encouraging. Imposing these budget cuts would undermine that progress and the law’s mission.

Groups are rallying their efforts and constituents to reverse the proposed cuts in spending. The American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST) and Cancer Survivors Against Radon (CanSAR) are among them. Contacting Congressional representatives is one of the best ways to express opposition to the cutbacks. Voices must be heard; health and safety risks can be averted.
